Hi, I'm Darya

I live in Austin, Texas but I am originally from Ukraine and moved to the states when I was 9 years old.
I am a recent graduate from Western Governor’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. There I took courses in Java, Python, C++, Machine Learning, quality assurance, among others. I worked on five solo projects developing complete applications for various real-world scenarios. I supplemented this education with outside sources such as Udemy in order to learn more about web development using Flask and using Machine Learning models in Jupyter notebooks to implement in my Capstone.

My interest in technology began with my older brother who had gone the Cybersecurity route, but I was always more interested in any software project he had to do for his degree. When I was in eighth grade, I had taken a computer camp where we put together computers ourselves. Once I had accumulated coding skills in school, my passion for technology grew because the possibilities are endless. I love that I can take any regular problem and create an application for it, such as that I am currently working to develop an application that will track the expiration dates on the ingredients In the refrigerator and recommend recipes to help my household prevent food waste.

While attending school I continued to work as an esthetician, cultivating relationships with over 150 regulars and working one on one with clients to produce solutions for their skin care concerns. I have also worked at a high-volume call center at Alorica, to facilitate the resolution of complex vehicle problems for General Motors clients. I have always enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of each of my roles and now I am seeking a more challenging career that will allow me to learn and create constantly.

In my free time I enjoy painting, fire spinning, and road trips to national parks with my fiancé. I also have two weenie dogs and a very talkative cat.
